"Joe the Plumber" teams up with Regular Folks United
October 12, 2009 - Washington, DC - Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, popularly known as "Joe the Plumber" is teaming up with Regular Folks United to promote and defend the interests of everyday Americans.
Mr. Wurzelbacher is best known for questioning then Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama about his small business tax policy during a campaign stop in Ohio. Since he was employed at the time by a plumbing contractor, he was labeled "Joe the Plumber" by the media.
"I became famous because TV cameras caught me questioning candidate Obama about taxes and the idea that I should share more of my hard-won earnings with others,"said Wurzelbacher. It made me front page news. When I stayed in the spotlight to talk about the things that I believe are on a lot of average people’s minds I was introduced to the 'other side of fame'— I was discredited, ridiculed and categorized."
Since then, Mr. Wurzelbacher has been on a mission to inform everyday Americans about the excesses of government and the lack of responsibility and accountability on the part of our elected officials.
"...Both parties routinely take American citizens for granted and both parties work overtime to pit us against each other," he declared. "I worry because we have somehow let a new breed of 'political aristocrats', deaf to the average person, back into power in the first country to throw off government by royal decree."
"...I have stayed on the 'stage' as a voice for ordinary Americans who have been dealt out of the decisions that affect our lives and our pocketbooks...It is why I’ll continue to speak out."
