Ron Miller of Regular Folks United Offers Support for Empower Employees Act

Ron Miller, President of Regular Folks United, issued the following press statement on the Empower Employees Act:

“Regular Folks United is pleased to lend its support to the Empower Employees Act introduced by Representative Tim Scott (R-SC). This bill would prohibit federal agencies from automatically deducting labor union dues from federal employees’ paychecks.

“This bill does not prevent federal employees from joining a union or paying union dues on their own. In fact, it gives them the choice as to whether or not they do so. This bill expands employee freedom.

“Expect labor unions to come out in strong opposition to this bill, however, because when employees are given the choice, they would rather keep their hard-earned money, especially in these difficult economic times. Unions are more interested in the power and influence that union dues bring them than they are in giving employees choices, and the position they take on this bill will expose their true agenda for all to see.

“As an advocate of liberty, Regular Folks United heartily endorses the freedom of choice represented by the Empower Employees Act.”
